Italian classes in Bologna starting next week!

June 8, 2020 by Daniel Leave a Comment

For anyone working or studying in Bologna, or who is once more able to travel (borders are opening up, at least here in Europe), Madrelingua’s Italian classes will be starting again from next week!

‘Standard’ and Individual Classes

We have three ‘standard’ classes planned from June 15th 2020, A1 (beginner/elementary), B1 (intermediate) and C1 (advanced). These will involve studying each morning from Monday to Friday, the minimum period being just a week.

We’re hoping to confirm the groups and select the teachers by this Wednesday. If you’d like to join us (with strict social distancing, masks, temperature checks etc.) do get in touch. Find out more!

We’re also now in a position to organise individual or personalised classes at the school. You won’t be surprised to hear that, opening up after a three-month lockdown, we have classrooms and teachers in abundance. This could be a great moment to organise yourself a one-to-one or small group course, in a professional language school with experienced teachers. Find out more!

Evening Classes

Also from June 15th, we’re hoping to begin our Italian evening classes once more.

Two evening Italian lessons a week is an effective way to improve your Italian without having to take time off from your job or studies. As well as of making new friends to practise with!

We have the nucleus of an A1 (beginner/elementary) group and a B1 (intermediate) class. Neither is yet confirmed, though we hope to do so by Wednesday. If interested, please reach out to us. Find out more!

Online Classes

What about if you definitely won’t be able to come to Italy in 2020? No worries! There’s still the option of learning Italian online.

We use Skype video calling, meaning that you can take an online lesson with one of our team of experienced Italian teachers no matter where you might be in the world. Find out more!

Madrelingua will be open as normal the first week of March

February 29, 2020 by Daniel

Just to let you know that Bologna still has no confirmed cases of the corona virus and, although schools and universities will remain closed until at least Saturday 7th March, museums and so on are set to reopen.

Life here is much as it always is, though the streets are a little less busy and it’s slightly easier to get a seat on public transport. Like most businesses, Madrelingua will be open as usual this coming week, though with fewer students than we would like!

Many thanks to those of you who have confirmed that you will be joining us on Monday, and above all to the students who have stuck it out with us this last, rather stressful, week. We appreciate, and will not forget, your support.

For students who have booked a course at some future point, clearly there is a lot of uncertainty as to whether your visit to Italy will go ahead as planned. Anyone wishing to modify the dates of their course, or postpone it indefinitely, should please contact us to let us know. Of course, we will be happy to hold your deposit as part-payment for a course at another time.

A presto!

MADRELINGUA will be OPEN tomorrow as normal

February 23, 2020 by Daniel

Dear Students

You may have heard that the Emilia-Romagna region has instructed schools to close for a week starting from tomorrow, Monday 24th February.

Nevertheless MADRELINGUA will be OPEN tomorrow (Monday 24th February) as normal.

We do not have complete information as to how this will affect business in Bologna, but we are assuming that bars, gyms, restaurants and so on will remain open. Madrelingua is not officially classified as a ‘school’ but as a business so for now we are assuming that the school closure does not apply to us.

Italian courses will therefore continue as normal, as far as that is possible, and until further notice.

N.b. if you choose not to participate in your course this week or at a future date if this situation continues, we would appreciate if you would let us know. In that way, we will be able to organise a credit for a future course. If you do NOT inform us that you will be absent, we will not be able to offer a credit for a future course.

2020 Italian Course Offer: Just 48 hours To Go!

December 23, 2019 by Daniel

The ‘best offer of the year’ on 2020 Italian courses at our school in Bologna, Italy ends in 48 hours or so.

A two-week Italian course, which normally costs EUR 437, is just EUR 350 with the 20% discount.

What’s EUR 350 in real money?

  • USD 388
  • GBP 298
  • AUD 563

*I worked these out myself using the most recent Euro foreign exchange rates listed on the European Central Bank site. But hey, I teach languages not math, so do double-check. And the rate your credit card provider, or Paypal, gives you is GUARANTEED to be worse…

Naturally you’ll have to add in the cost of accommodation (not much) and your flight (depends where you start from..)

But when all is said and done, you could be giving your Italian a major boost, and enjoying a great holiday in Bologna (home of Europe’s oldest university) for relatively little.

And to confirm your 20% discount, all that’s required is a deposit of EUR 120!

By midnight on Christmas Day.

No need to decide the dates of your course yet – just let us know when you know…

But don’t miss this chance to lock in the best saving of 2020!

Pay the EUR 120 deposit NOW to confirm your 20% discount.

2020 Italian Course Offer: What to expect from your course

December 20, 2019 by Daniel

(Seen this email before? I sent it on the same day last year. But nothing much has changed since then, so we’re using it again!)

This week I’ve published articles about ‘Why learn Italian?‘, ‘Why Study Italian in Bologna?‘ and ‘Why Study Italian at Madrelingua?‘

Today then, I’m assuming that you’ve already decided to learn Italian, that you’ve picked out Bologna as an appropriate destination, and that you’ve selected Madrelingua as your choice of Italian language school.

Brava!

Or ‘Bravo!’ if you’re a guy.

If there’s two of you, and one’s male, that would be ‘Bravi!’

‘Brave!’ if you’re twin sisters and make this type of decision together.

Anyway, having decided to study and where, naturally you might be wondering what to expect from your Italian course.

So that’s today’s topic.

But, as it’s been a busy week, I’m planning to cheat a little and, rather than try to cover everything in one article, link to lots of things on the school website that you might find helpful.

For example, this article from way back in 2014:

‘What should I expect on my first day at your Italian school?‘

Liked that?

There are LOADS of articles in a similar vein in our archive ‘Best Articles About Learning Italian‘.

Suppose you’ve done your background reading but still can’t quite visualise yourself, sitting in a language classroom in the center of historic Bologna?

Check out this webpage with pictures of our school and its immediate surroundings.

Still got questions?

Hah! That’s why we have a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page.

Personally I’ll always read the FAQ when I buy something, though perhaps that’s just me.

Plenty of people just email us with their questions.

Yesterday (actually ‘yesterday’ a year ago when I originally wrote this) somone from Israel phoned. Yes, we speak English. No, not Hebrew, sorry!

Here’s how to contact us.

That’s it for today – short and sweet, as I’ve still got to write my speech for this afternoon’s staff Christmas lunch.

A domani.

2020 Italian Course Offer – Save 20%!

Get your act together this week to save 20% on 2020 group Italian courses in Bologna!

  • The ‘Winter Offer – 20%’ course deposit is just €120 instead of the usual €150…
  • … which ‘locks in’ a saving of 20% on the whole price of your course!
  • N.b. This offer is good for group courses, not individual or online lessons
  • Your course can be of any length, from a week to a year!
  • No need to decide the dates now – email us when you know
  • As every year, this offer ends at midnight on Christmas Day. But why wait?
