Madrelingua’s 2023 Italian Course Offer is coming soon!

December 7, 2022 by Daniel Leave a Comment

Just a quick announcement to all current, former and perhaps future Madrelingua students – our annual 20% discount promotion is coming soon!

The 2023 Italian Course Offer will begin on Monday 12th of December 2022, and end at midnight on Christmas Day, which is the Sunday of the week after.

During that period you’ll be able to save a full 20% on group Italian courses OF ANY LENGTH at our school in Bologna in 2023.

A lot of our regulars pay a small deposit during the annual December offer, then decide later, depending on their circumstances, when to do their course and for how long.

That’s just fine!

That way, there’s no need for you to spend time making definite plans during this busy period before Christmas. While we get an idea of how many people are interested in courses for the coming year, and can therefore more confidently plan staffing and so on

Anyway, there’ll be full details of the 2023 Italian course promotion on Monday 12th.

In the meantime, I want to alert anyone who is NO LONGER INTERESTED IN LEARNING ITALIAN that now would be the ideal time to unsubscribe from our email list, so ensuring that you won’t be bothered in future.

Articles that we publish on the school website (like this one) are emailed out automatically. But there will always be an ‘unsubscribe’ link, either at the top or the bottom, or both.

To remove your email from the list, just click that link and follow the simple instructions. It should take just seconds.

But if you are, definitely, still interested?

Remember, the offer doesn’t begin until Dec. 12th, so don’t go booking your course immediately (someone always does…), unless you don’t care about the discount, of course.

Instead, you could check out the Italian courses page on the website, look at course prices (remember to mentally deduct 20%), read the FAQ and, if you questions are not answered there, contact us.

My wife, Stefi, will be happy to respond to your email, talk to you on the phone, or welcome you if you decide to come by the school to take a look around.

Two final comments – firstly, anyone who has previously paid a course deposit but not actually come to do a course (perhaps because of the pandemic), absolutely need not pay again. Your deposit will remain valid. All you need to do is email the dates you intend to study. You could even do that now…

And secondly, what if you KNOW YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO DO A COURSE IN 2023 but still want to learn or improve your Italian?

Some of the school staff and teachers also work on other projects that might interest you.

For example, EasyItalianNews.com, which offers FREE audio + transcript ‘easy’ news broadcasts three times a week.

And of course there’s OnlineItalianClub.com, which features thousands of pages of FREE exercises and practice material, plus articles about learning Italian.

You could even take some Italian lessons online, without ever leaving the comfort of your home or office!

That’s everything, I think.

Buona giornata, allora.

P.S.

Don’t forget, if you’d rather not hear about the 2023 Italian course promotion, look for the ‘Unsubscribe’ link, at the top or bottom of any email you receive from us.

Italian Evening Classes in Bologna – update

October 12, 2022 by Daniel Leave a Comment

Here’s the latest about the Autumn/Fall session of Italian evening classes at our school in Bologna.

In level order, from lowest to highest, we have:

– an A1 (beginner) group, with just two students so far enrolled, scheduled for Monday/Wednesday evenings. It will, hopefully, begin on Oct. 17th.

– the A2 group has started, and meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. It’s possible to ask for a trial lesson, or just jump right in and enroll. The second three-week module starts on Oct. 27th.

– the B1/B2 class, Monday and Wednesday again, is a little further ahead, so will begin its second three-week module on Oct. 19th.

Anyone living or studying in Bologna who would be interested can find details of the dates and prices on the Italian evening courses page of the school website.

Or contact Stefi, who will be happy to answer your questions.

Lower-Level Italian Evening Class Starts in Bologna Oct. 6th

September 29, 2022 by Daniel Leave a Comment

Another update about the Autumn/Fall session of Italian evening classes at our school in Bologna.

The first class began this week (26/09/2022). It’s an intermediate/upper-intermediate level (B1/B2) and the lessons are on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 18.00 to 21.00.

My colleague tells me that’s a pretty good group, so they’ll soon be Cs not Bs! For this reason we’ll be looking to open a lower-intermediate class, if there’s any interest.

And we’ve now confirmed the A1/A2 group, which will happen in the same evening time slot but on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning October 6th.

Anyone living or studying in Bologna who wishes to improve their Italian would be well-advised to take advantage of the gloomy months from October to December. In that time it should be possible to improve an entire level, as there will be four three-week modules, each of 18 hours, so 72 hours in total.

Details of the dates and prices can be found on the Italian evening courses page of the school website.

For more information, contact Stefi, who will be happy to answer your questions.

And for those of you who are not in Bologna, or who are not free in the evenings? Follow these links to find out about our other Italian course options:

April 27, 2022 by Daniel Leave a Comment

From next week (May 2nd 2022), we have three levels of Italian evening classes starting/restarting at our language school in the center of Bologna.

They are:

A1/A2 (elementary/pre-intermediate) on Mondays and Wednesdays, 18.00-21.00 C.E.T.

B1 (intermediate), also on Mondays and Wednesdays, 18.00-21.00 C.E.T.

B2/C1 (upper-intermediate/advanced), on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 18.00-21.00 C.E.T.

The Italian evening classes are organised in three-week modules, two lessons of three hours each week, so eighteen hours per module. We’ve programmed four modules for the summer trimester, meaning that anyone studying from the start of May to the third week of July can expect to improve approximately a level.

Join one of these Italian courses in Bologna?

March 9, 2022 by Daniel Leave a Comment

We currently have the following classes running at our Italian language school in Bologna:

Morning (full-time/intensive) Italian courses

The school is open for in-person teaching and all full-time/intensive classes are now being organised that way. Things are busier than they were in January and February and we expect that to continue during the spring/summer, pandemic permitting!

This week we have the following levels, running from Monday thru Friday, 0930-1330:

A1 (beginner/elementary)
A2 (pre-intermediate)
B1 (intermediate)
B2/C1 (upper-intermediate/advanced)

Face masks are still obligatory for students and staff, though ‘green passes’ are not.

We measure people’s temperature on entry, maintain appropriate distancing, open windows regularly, clean desks after each class, and so on. Hand gel is provided.

Outside the school, masks are not now obligatory.

Anyone who previously paid a deposit for an Italian course in Bologna but cancelled or were not permitted to come because of Covid, your deposit is STILL VALID. So why not try again??

The good weather’s just around the corner, too… How to book

Evening (part-time) Italian courses

The Covid precautions detailed above apply equally to evening course students. We currently have two groups in progress, plus waiting lists for classes to open when we reach the minimum number of students.

Evening classes currently running (if you’re in Bologa, ask us for a trial lesson) are:

B1 (intermediate), Monday/Wednesday, 1800-2100
B2 (upper-intermediate), Tuesday/Thursday, 1800-2100

If you’re interested in other levels, please let us know and we’ll add you to the waiting list!

Update on Italian Courses in Bologna, Italy (not online!)

February 15, 2022 by Daniel Leave a Comment

Here’s a quick update on the situation with classes at our Italian language school in Bologna:

Morning (full-time/intensive) Italian courses

The school is open for in-person teaching and all full-time/intensive classes are now being organised that way. Things are quiet right now, but we expect to be busier from March onwards, then throughout the spring/summer, pandemic permitting!

Face masks are obligatory for students and staff, though ‘green passes’ are not, except for employees aged over 50 years (we have two!)

We measure people’s temperature on entry, maintain appropriate distancing, open windows regularly, clean desks after each class, and so on. Hand gel is provided.

Outside the school, masks are not now obligatory, which is a relief, and a sign that things are improving.

We currently have two groups and two waiting lists for classes which we’ll open when there’s enough interest.

A1 (beginner/elementary) – we have a waiting list of the (presumably few) people who are interested. If you are, too, contact us.

The A2 (pre-intermediate) started its second three-week module on 07/02/22 and runs on Mondays and Wednesdays at 18.00-21.00 C.E.T. There are seven students in the group, but our classrooms are large enough that we could squeeze a few more in and still maintain appropriate distancing. If anyone would like to take part, contact us.

The B2 (upper-intermediate) class, starts its second module, and the B2-level course book, this evening. It runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. As there are currently only three students, the class times are 18.00-20.30. though if/when there are four (or more) students that will extend half an hour, so 18.00-21.00 C.E.T. Want to study B2? Contact us.

C1 (advanced) – is another waiting list, for now. Contact us and help make it a reality!

If you’re unsure which course is right for you, please contact us to ask whatever questions you have and/or to arrange a level test.

Italian Evening Classes in Bologna Started/Starting!

January 18, 2022 by Daniel Leave a Comment

Here’s a quick update on the situation with the Italian evening classes at our language school in Bologna:

The A2 (pre-intermediate) started yesterday (17/01/22) and runs on Mondays and Wednesdays at 18.00-21.00 C.E.T. There’s space in the group if anyone would like to join us!

The B1/2 (intermediate/upper-intermediate) class, which was scheduled to begin this evening and will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 18.00-21.00 C.E.T. HAS BEEN POSTPONED A WEEK, so will now start this time next week, on Jan. 25th. Again, there’s still space in the group.

The reason for the postponement was the usual these days – someone in the assigned teacher’s family tested positive, so rather than use a substitute we decided to wait a week for the ‘all clear’.

We’re also hoping to open other levels, for example beginners and advanced, if there’s the interest. Contact Us

The three-week (18 hour) ‘module’ starting next week will end by February 3rd, after which there will then be three further modules, each also lasting three weeks (18 hours), from February 7th to February 24th, from February 28th to March 17th, and from March 21st to April 7th. (MENTALLY ADJUST THOSE DATES FOR THE CLASS STARTING A WEEK LATER!)

Those dates, and other information, can be consulted on our Italian Evening Courses page.

So why not join us to improve your Italian? With just two evening classes a week, and taking advantage of the gloomy months from January to April, you could improve an entire level!

If you’re unsure which class is right for you, please contact us to arrange a test.

And for those of you who are not available to study in the evenings, C.E.T.?

Another option is to take one-to-one Italian lessons online.
